Song of Myself

Song of Myself

I’m excited to annouce the delivery of “Song of Myself” for soprano and wind ensemble to the University of Minnesota to celebrate Craig Kirchhoff’s retirement as Director of Wind Ensemble, and to be premiered at a concert at the University of Minnesota, April 26.  The text was taken from Walt Whitman.

So proud to have been able to have done this for him. Thank you to Jerry Luckhardt, to the University of Minnesota, and to many of Craig’s former students, for making it possible!

Utah Symphony Holiday Concert

The Utah Symphony performed many of my holiday selections in December. Charlotte Craff, Artistic Operations Manager sent me a nice note about the concert. “I just wanted to send you a note to say that your arrangements went off in spectacular fashion for our Family Holiday program at the end of December. Our in-house holiday music selection is quite lean, a bit dowdy and serious, but your charts brought a fresh excitement to the familiar pieces. We really enjoyed it.”

Holiday Pops – Racine Symphony

I was delighted to hear of the recent success of the Racine Symphony who performed my arrangements exclusively for their Holiday Pops concert:

“The Racine Symphony Orchestra just played to a sold out and very enthusiastic audience featuring an entire evening of your music. In addition to the many appealing Christmas arrangements, your original scores of “Hot Santa” and Timeless Treasures” were winningly performed by a talented local singer. Largely due to the strength of your delightful music Jim, this was the most successful Holiday Pops concert of my tenure. I can’t thank you enough for your role in a concert experience that was so satisfying for both the audience and the musicians. BRAVO!”

Gaudete Brass

Gaudete Brass

Thank you, Gaudete Brass, for a wonderful performance of my “Dodecafecta” (concerto for brass quintet). The Downers Grove South HS band, under the direction of Craig Roselieb, did an outstanding job as well!
A special nod to Bill, who performed heroically, after just having injured his back. True professionalism.
